We specialise in classic home style cooking, presented with a rustic charm and grace. Meals are carefully prepared by our chefs using fresh ingredients; we pride ourselves on a quality product.
The Backyard focuses on small to medium events, corporate meals and private parties. For the corporate we have steered clear from the en masse type catering and canteen styled food. Menus are custom made and designed to suit a clients wishes.
A little bit of history:
The Backyard was started by Gill Oxenham in 1997 from her mother’s domestic kitchen. Gill is a qualified Cordon Bleu chef, who has travelled extensively to gather fine culinary knowledge. From 1994 for a period of three years, Gill learnt a great deal about the trade and furthered her expertise with her mentor Sally Williams.
From these humble beginnings, today we are an established small catering business working from our own premises situated in Eastgate, Sandton.
Patrick, with years of experience in food related industries specialises in personal contact with clients, and relishes client relationships.
